2130z 08 Apr 25

8992.0 was active at 2050z 08 Apr 25 with POT ROAST (NCS HFGCS)
broadcasting the 30-character EAM AO2YSY.

8992.0 was active at 2058z with STEELWORKER (male operator; weak/fair
readable on Utah SDR):

"This is STEELWORKER; standby for preamble; AO2YSY (thrice); message of 30
characters follows; entire string; repeated; STEELWORKER out."

The USN uses character count statements for most of their HF EAM traffic
including 30 character strings. The NCS and related ground and airborne
assets start the character count statements at 31 characters and above.

For context:

02 Apr 25 2021z EXTRADITE (NCS HFGCS) broadcast the 30-character EAM WGFPNS
"FOR JERKY 7." (JERKY 07 AF0930 launched from PAX RIVER 2045z). 8992.0
became active at 2039z with STEELWORKER (female operator): "This is
STEELWORKER; WGFPNS; repeated; STEELWORKER out." She did not use a
character count statement. She did not state "FOR JERKY 7."

Use a search engine for "United States Navy ship steelworker nickname."
