1453z 8992.0 (I believe) was active with DOWNTOWN (presumed DINAR 64;
E6; TACAMO LANT) worked MAINSAIL to enter the net. DINAR 64 launched from
OFFUTT and by 1608z was eastbound over Sandusky, Ohio. While north of FORT
WAYNE DINAR 64 had descended to 18000z feet and remained mostly there until
he crossed the Atlantic coast. The initial NOTAM reservation for the
Atlantic was maxed at 20000 feet. 18000 feet is not exactly fuel efficient
for a 4-engine 707 derivative. I can see why the USN wants the C-130s for
the comm platform mission.
1612z BANKROLL (presumed APNEA 52; E6 ex OFFUTT) called LOYAL SON
(HFGCS daily callword) presumably to enter the net. Southbound, headed to
the Gulf of Mexico. He crossed paths with a long eastbound train of P8s
headed back to Florida.
1628z 11175.0 MAINSAIL called OROYIA (did not sound like AURORA.)
1735z 11175.0 LOYAL SON broadcast the 30-character EAM C6MA7N.
1740z 11175.0 DOWNTON broadcast C6MA7N. H+10/h+40 restoral
transmission. In orbit over the Atlantic.
1800z 11175.0 BANKROLL broadcast C6MA7N. H+00/H30 restoral
transmission. In orbit over the Gulf.
1820z+/- Presumed BANKROLL; 27.20 KHz FSK solid capture of VLF
"CHANNEL ONE" C6MA7N transmission via Texas SDR with the "printed"
EAM repeated 6 times and off.
1830z 11175.0 BANKROLL C6MA7N.
1900z BANKROLL C6MA7N
1930z (timed out)
2000z Nothing heard and BANKROLL was approaching the Texas coast.
1948z 11175.0 RECOURSE (excellent level on Texas SDR; good levels
elsewhere; strong power supply artifacts on audio/waterfall) called
CORRUGATE, and raised MAINSAIL but no resolution. Other than DINAR 64 (who
flew to Buffalo, NY) and APNEA 52 (returning to OFFUTT) there were no other
players visible on ADSB sites. RECOURSE appeared to be airborne (the
artifacts) and spoke like a player, but...
2109z LOYAL SON broadcast C6T72I. Quiet for the rest of UTC day.
However....
New UTC day 12 Oct 2024
0106z HARDWOOD (presumed USSTRATCOM CP; DTMF tones) with their nightly
comm test count.)
0106z MAINSAIL called OROYIA (sounds like; not AURORA) "for radio
check".
0106z WEST COAST (strong) called "last caller" apparently in response
to the MAINSAIL call.
0106z Weak "short beep" weak OROYIA called MAINSAIL (apparently in
response to WEST COAST") and said "broken" something (signal check
language).
0107z WEST COAST called OROYIA (pronounced AURORA) and said "have you
loud and clear."
0107z OROYIA (weak) said to "MAINSAIL" (WEST COAST) "loud and clear"
with transmission ending in a "short beep"
Who is "OROYIA" or maybe "AURORA?" And who were RECOURSE and CORRUGATE?
