May was a month of mixed feelings. It began tragically; while I was asleep
before working the midnight shift in Brunswick, RICAN 68 (WC-130H, 65-0968,
156 AW) crashed in Savannah. I didn’t hear the crash, but the crew of 9
perished in the crash, which still has part of Georgia Highway 21 in Port
Wentworth closed. It was the worst aircraft crash in the Savannah area in
my memory. Please keep the family, friends, and squadron mates of the crew
in your thoughts and prayers. After that, it was hard to get excited about
much, but the Savannah Air Dominance Center hosted another Sentry Savannah
exercise, with F-22As from the 192nd FW and T-38s from the 71st FTS from
Langley AFB participating. The month also saw a couple of visiting C-12s:
EVAL 18 (MC-12S, 12-00281, US Army) and MYSTIC 27 (RC-12R, 92-03327,
RDECOM-CERDEC).
