I've been experimenting with searching in RAW mode as opposed to USB. If the search stops a kHz or 2 off the correct freq and I am not there to correct it the RAW file can be played back in SDR Sharp and retuned there in any mode. The known freqs can have the 2 KHz above them locked out to prevent miss tunes but my guess is there is a better chance of it detecting a USB signal if it can look at all of it. The RAW files are actually WAV files and can be played back in any player. I use VLC media player to review the recordings and determine which ones I want to retune in SDR Sharp. Just right click on the days recordings folder to to add all of them to the VLC play list.
CAUTION. You need to be careful if you start using RAW mode. Volume levels can vary greatly when changing modes and can be very loud. I think it has something to do with the AGC not kicking in emediately and whether or not the unity gain box is checked. RAW mode has no AGC option and should be run with unity gain on. The difference in volume when switching unity gain on and off is huge. I run the side band modes with unity gain off and AGC on. So with the AGC and unity gain being switched on and off there is that hearing damaging potential. Having the computers loudness equalization turned on helps.
Here it is searching about 600 Khz total spread out across the band and then 5.4 Mhz total spread out across the band. My HF reception for mobile stations is limited to line of sight.
