This whole "no scanners at air shows" started after they finally started
doing air shows again after 9/11. Before 9/11 I used to bring scanners to
Travis AFB air shows with no problems but since 9/11 they have had a strict
no scanner policy at air shows even though all radio communications on the
base are encrypted and can't be scanned. I even had a conversation with the
Travis base commander about it and he just wouldn't budge on it...long
story short I don't go to air shows at Travis anymore simply because I
can't bring my scanner....it's half the fun....for us radio fanatics. ;-)
