[MilCom] CHERRY POINT AIR SHOW APRIL 30th 2016

I have NEVER been to an air show (36 years this season) that I was not allowed to bring at least 1 scanner in.  I usually carry 2.  I have heard that NAS Oceana show will not let you bring ANY type of radio in.  I think Nellis AFB was another.  But here in the northeast, everyone seems to not have any issues.  Yes, I have had to put all on the table to go thru the magnetometer, but security has never even asked me to power anything up.  Same goes for our friends at the TSA.  I bring a scanner, a marine band radio, GPS and other assorted electronics on vacation in Florida and they have never asked for a closer look at any of that stuff.CraigKALB

Got my answer about carrying my Icom R-1 into cherry point air show not
looking good. I even sent them a picture oh well.

I will be listening from the parking lot with my chair and camera. Any
comments ?

Good morning Sir,

I am going to say you should err on the side of caution and not bring the
radio due to the way it looks.  At first glance, it looks like a walkie
talkie and depending on the security guard he or she may turn you away and
you may have to take it back to your car.

I'm sorry I can't give you a more definite answer but with the security
issues in society these days, there are strict enforcements to protect our
public, assets and military members.

CHERRY POINT AIR SHOW APRIL 30th 2016.

Has anyone monitored the BLUE ANGELS this year  ?/ Are the freqs still the
same as 2015 maybe?

I'm going to try see If they will let me in the show with mu little Icom R1
with ear buds . When I turn It on I will have the local air show country
western FM radio station in the sub vfo. Just maybe they let me carry it in
see security rules below.
