Someone on my Facebook Group _https://www.facebook.com/groups/HFmonitors_
(https://www.facebook.coom/groups/HFmonitors) asked me what method I use
to monitor HF. Made me realize there are a lot of newcomers to HF who
wonder the same thing because unlike UHF/VHF monitoring, HF requires more active
participation from the person monitoring.
So here was my response. Others might have different methods of
monitoring HF:
I push numbers. I have a list of MWARA freqs in consecutive order. At
night I start with the 2 Megs and punch in 2889 and work my way up to the 6
Megs freqs. In the daytime I mostly listen to HF-GCS 11175 or 8992; also MARS
13927; sometimes go to USCG 8983. Every now and then I spin the dial
upwards or downwards slowly from the freq I am sitting on. I also have a list of
LDOC freqs and love to punch them in. No magic; just ordinary monitoring.
