[MilCom] Planespotting at Hickam

A friend of mine is leaving to spend the Holiday in Hawaii. Can anyone tell 
 me about planespotting/photography opportunities at Hickam AFB or Honolulu 
 IAP?  Is there a location or hotel nearby that provides a good opportunity 
 to view the planes?
