Further information from the news media on the incident involving RESCUE 341 Saturday morning:

Two planes in mid-air collision near St. Brieux, Saskatchewan, five people dead

I still can't believe that two planes collided in deep rural Saskatchewan, flying to different destinations. I assume they were both flying VFR, the weather certainly was good.

RESCUE 341, a CC-130E from 435 Squadron, 17 Wing Winnipeg, logged about 18:00 UTC Saturday May 12, 2012, working Winnipeg Centre on 123.800, enroute to a search for a missing aircraft in the St. Brieux, Saskatchewan area. Cleared by Winnipeg Centre ATC to 52 38 N 104 54 W, then VFR.
