Since my good friend and former iScanMarine Listowner Jack Painter passed
away nearly three years ago, there has been no control over the iScanMarine
group, leaving it vulnerable to spammers and leaving it unable to flourish
with new memberships.

I have done all I could to adopt the iScanMarine Group, without success.
I have had emails with Yahoogroups over and over again for more than 2
years and made my argument that the Group should not be left to be taken over
by spammers. Sometimes I got what I thought was an encouraging response,
but really never got close to being able to establish a new Listowner or
Moderator of the Group.

Several different YahooGroups management people have repeated to me their
argument that because Jack had set the group to allow member email addresses
to be hidden, the Poll function of the Group was disabled, so there is no
way for members to elect a new Listowner/Moderator. I pleaded that it was
such a waste to just let the Group flounder and eventually fail, but my
pleadings were not successful.

I have created a Group called ScanMarine. Out of respect for Jack, I chose
a name resembling the name of the group he founded. The site for the group
is
_http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ScanMarine_
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ScanMarine) .

You can join the group by going to
_http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ScanMarine/join_ (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ScanMarine/join)

Postings to the group will be messages, photographs and files related to
the US Coast Guard, Search and Rescue (SAR), Civilian vessels, and Navy
vessels of all countries. Comms of interest are UHF, VHF and HF communications.

I will operate the Group in a hands-on manner, as I do with the other
several radio-related Yahoogroups that I operate.
