[MilCom] HF ALE intercept - Is this an aircraft tail number?

C-5B, 86-0018, 337th AS

The 1 indicates a C-5, then the last digit of the fiscal year (6) then the 4 
digit sequence number (0018).

Other general prefixes:
2 = C-17
3 = was C-141's
4 = KC-10
5 = KC-135 / OC-135

And sometimes you might see the entire tail code, or other variations.
