As Larry has said, PCALE will allow single frequency none scanning copy of
ALE transmissions just as long as a basic audio feed from the receiver to
your computer is connected up. Larry also referred to the site
http://hflink.com/beta/ . There is a lot of info about ham radio ALE
activity from the basic site of http://hflink.com/ too. Would recommend that
you use an appropriate serial cable to enhance the operation of PCALE so you
can scan. Dont over drive the audio into the computer, and turn off your
computer sound options. Started out with this software for ALE more than 15
years ago, so it is reasonably stable to use.
Issues with running PCALE is generally due to computer hardware, software
and configuration issues. Can contribute to some basic information about how
to improve this concern for the general user if needed.
If you wish to get an amateur radio license, there is also software that
will interface with PCALE and report its amateur radio band heard ale
signals to the hflink site listed below.
If you want to see real time information about amateur radio signals running
a version of PCALE or MarsAle on the shortwave bands, check out the
http://hflink.net site.
If you need help with configuration of PCALE, check out this Yahoo Reflector
site:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ALEradio/
It isnt that active, but does generally get a response to user questions as
they come up. Be patient .....
