P-3C "Lima Lima 09" was doing pattern work over Patrick AFB a short while
ago, when the pilot declared an IFE (In-Flight Emergency) because of a
large leak of hydraulic fluid from the landing gear. The plane has no brakes
now.
This is NAS Jacksonville VP-30 P-3C #161591. It is emblazoned with a
large star and with large numbers "44-P-4," because it is painted in WWII
paint scheme, commemmorating the centennial year of NAVAIR.
Fire engines have encircled the plane on the ground at Patrick.
They have determined that the tow bars they have at Patrick will not
fit the airplane, so it cannot be towed away. A tow bar and maintenance parts
are being flown to Patrick from NAS Jacksonville.
I will be uploading a picture of the airplane to my MilRadioComms
group.
