Greetings everyone,

First of all, my apologies for those on the lists who had to put up with
my blank email postings on Friday. I was using a different computer, and
even though I wanted to get the information out in real time, I simply
could not get the email program to send the messages in plain text format.
Despite having the options set for plain text format, the messages kept
going out with HTML code, which caused the blank messages.

So, I'm back on my usual computer now, and here is a summary of the
information from Friday's monitoring. A couple of days late, but hopefully
you'll find it useful. I was monitoring all of this on 123.8, the Winnipeg
Centre Regina transmitter, being used for the low level sector here. This
frequency was simulcasting other Winnipeg Centre low level sectors,
notably southern Manitoba.

CANFORCE 1 - Canadian Prime Minister's aircraft, monitored on Winnipeg
Centre, cleared for approach to Brandon, Manitoba. Handed off to Brandon
Radio for the approach approx. 1630 UTC. Unknown aircraft type, but
something small enough to land in Brandon. Probably one of the Challenger
jets. Never did hear the PM depart Brandon.

BOLT 07 FLIGHT - MacDill KC-135 tanker, Working Winnipeg Centre. "Standard
formation, 3 fighters on each wing", 1845 UTC. Handed off to Salt Lake
Centre 126.85, 1910 UTC. Final destination unknown. Did not find any air
to air frequencies, but the formation could have been out of range. I
never did confirm which Centre sector(s) BOLT 07 was flying through.

At the same time, the Winnipeg Centre controller was also working COLT 10
and COLT 14, along with MUSTANG 88. COLT and MUSTANG are 3 CFFTS military
training aircraft based in Southport, Manitoba. So when the controller was
calling BOLT, he clearly emphasized the B in BOLT when making the call to
avoid confusion.
