USS Ike aircraft have been working since early this morning.
When the range weather was not right for them, they conducted
simulated missions with Bluetail. When the weather permitted, Bluetail controlled
them in work over Pinecastle Range. They are still going now, at 9:08pm
EST.
I just heard a great conversation between McConnell AFB KC-135 "Turbo
92" and Oceana VFA-143 "Dog 43" while their AAR was going on.
When Dog 43 passed his tail number (166603), he IDd as a member of
the "World Famous Pukin Dogs." The pilot of Turbo 92 asked him what he
meant, and Dog 43 said "I am with VFA-143; we are known as the World Famous
Pukin Dogs."
Turbo 92 asked him "How did you ever get that nickname?"
Dog 43 explained: "Years ago we were flying Panthers and one day
someone made a paper mache statue of a panther, with wings, and displayed it in
the Officers Club. Someone saw it and said 'That looks like a pukin dog.'
>From then on we called ourselves the World Famous Pukin Dogs.
