I've got a BC-780 back in the car now and I'm able to monitor military
communications much better.  The BC-996 just doesn't receive milair as well
as the 780 does, so it has been relegated to public safety/Fedcom and other
land mobile stuff and the 780 is doing MilCom duties.  I don't know whether
the 996 is a bad milcom scanner or whether the 780 is just a very good
milcom scanner; all I know is I wouldn't have heard this stuff with the 996.
Following is what I heard between 1000-1100 local on the way to work:
