[MilCom] Milair Callsign

Yeah, I get the feeling that the 434th CP BRICKYARD tends to get used primarily by its own a/c on 252.1 and I have heard others say occasionally on HF (don't know if that was point-to-point or a phone patch) while others call for Grissom weather, approach, dpearture, etc. on a tower-related or GCA-type frequency. Sometimes even their own guys aren't using it I think.... I keep my ears tuned to that primarily just because they're not so far away and there aren't that many tenant units close to me. The 181st FW that was ANG in Tere Haute is gone, so that pretty much leaves the Grissom guys and 122nd FW ANG in Fort Wayne anywhere near me, plus whoever happens to be passing over and I get a lucky hit on some freq plugged in to the scanner. I'll occasionally get someone on a dispatch freq headed for Wright-Pat, otherwise its been pretty dead for a long time. The old AR16 route was good for some traffic, that's gone too I am pretty sure and I guess for the
other couple of AR's that are even remotely near me I must just be listening at the wrong times!
I've been watching here at milcom and collecting some new(er) frequencies and info with the notion of completely re-doing what's plugged in to the scanners so I might actually hear something although I suspect part of it might be that some missions are either running digital/spread spectrum/afsatcom-sorta-thingy and just not "listenable" by the average radio.........main scanner is PRO-2006, a bit dated perhaps but so long they're talking in AM or FM of some sort, it works pretty well. I also run a handheld Icom R10 which also gets me CW and SSB modes plus some rather newer features than the 2006 but scans SLOOOOOWLY at best. For a handheld the receiver is impressive when connected to a good antenna, easily the equal of the 2006 and possibly a fair chunk better. Also have some gear to listen to HF although having "downsized" my living space lately :-( I have no antennas up for that at all right now. Looking at my alternatives - before I just hooked
up to my Amateur antennas and had all the HF I could want. :-) My main HF Amateur transceiver (Yeasu FT840) has memories and can scan them at a reasonable speed, so I could fill those up with mil-air HF stuff I guess, as I really haven't had much use for that on the ham bands.
