My January and February MT Milcom columns has the answer to your question
Scott - change is coming and one of the big ones appears to be the US CG
incorporating its comms into an expanded COTHEN network. This could be some
of what you are seeing.
I see a lot more CG guard traffic on COTHEN these days. There also appears
to be more HF freqs being added to the system, but since this is very
prelim, I want publish anything publicly until we have a better handle on
what is happening. In the meantime, keep an eye on the COTHEN net for USCG
activity (inluding guard comms).
