I see a C37B reaching FL490, but does nothing fly at FL600 any more? Or 
perhaps they just don't show up. Here in the UK we used to get something 
coming in at FL600 from across the pond (U2 perhaps? or Blackbird?), and 
of course Concorde did that.

A friend of mine was a radar operator in about 1960 when you military 
Yanks came in high without filing flight plans - until we had our 
Lightnings operational, and they could go up past the incoming aircraft 
(mind you, they couldn't stay up there for long), so you started to let 
us know in advance.
