On Tuesday 14 Oct 2008, I posted this:
" 'Rhody 38' has just switched from 119.4 (Orlando Appr) to Patrick
Tower's 133.75 and is landing.
Earlier he called in to Patrick CP on 311.0 and advised he would be RON and
requested billeting for crew members.
Rhody 38 is RI-ANG 143AS C-130J #06-1438 out of Quonset State Airport, RI."
He arrived at Patrick and RONd and eventually headed south I think.
A short while ago, I snagged comms from him as he was in the air
northbound.
He came up with Patrick's "Barrier Ops" on 311.0 and requested that
they call Tyndall AFB Base Ops on DSN 523-4244 to request an unscheduled fuel
stop there at 1430z (9:30am EDT) for 15,000 pounds fuel. At first, Tyndall
refused because they have a 48-hour notice requirement for fueling. But just as
Rhody 58 was passing the Eglin AFB DSNs 872-5313 and 872-5406 to Barrier Ops
(and Rhody 58 was quickly getting out of Patrick's radio range), Tyndall
agreed to provide a PPR to Rhody 38 for the fueling.
Rhody's day turned around as fast as the Boston Red Sox did last night
in their ALCS game against the Tampa Rays. Rhody 58 is having a great Air
Force day.
