Most of this is from recordings when I was away from the scanners, and I
only have one that is set up for recording... I sure am seeing the need
for probably 3+ more scanners with recording setups, at least 1 being
MilAir w/25 khz channels, maybe 3 being 10 chan. or so VHF (dedicated
local, dedicated ATC, and dedicated ACARS)... I need more budget, or some
benefactors! :D
Here's the 5/7 USCG training ops, including a C130 from Sacramento, a 47'
motor lifeboat, and at least 1 local HH-65A:
"Cape Crusader" (USCG 47' Lifeboat #47202): "From the 44, good evening
tonight, guys..." Say they are 5 mi. north of jettys, Humboldt Bay.
Looking at weight and fuel, "looking to shoot a match" to the sea buoy,
asking UNID other party to "hang out" in the vicinity of the jettys in case
"anything were to happen", then they will move in and start doing some
rescue swimmer work. (I don't believe this is a local boat, but part of a
training op for other units that included the C130 seen below)
20:14 157.175 FM (Marine 83A, primary CG Ops CGS Humboldt Bay)
Same boat IDing as "47202" answering "6544" (HH-65A based at CGS Humboldt
Bay), saying thanks and "we'll let you know when we're done."
20:15 157.175 FM (Marine 83A, primary CG Ops CGS Humboldt Bay)
CG1718 Aprchg. ACV RWY 32, asked to throttle back after Yeager to allow a
SkyWest flight to land before their approach -- they reply they can slow
another 20 kt and will track inbound to Mays intersection. Cleared to
descend & maintain FL 80 at 20:21, then FL 70 at 20:23. Are advised that
they will have to hold back to allow SkyWest flight in; they reply they are
doing what they can to slow their approach. Cleared ILS apprch. RWY 32 at
20:27. Cleared to touch & go and climb back to FL 150, and given
permission at 20:29 to resume approach speed (they rpt. back that they
already are at approach speed.)
20:19-20:29 124.85 (ZSE ACV Approach)
CG1718 - ID's self as C130- 12 mi. final, ILS approach, Touch & go on RWY
32 at ACV
20:32 123.00 (ACV Unicom)
CG1715 (change of callsign, same aircraft) checking back in with ZSE, on
radar at 8 mi. W of ACV, cleared to McClellan (USCG Air Station Sacramento)
via Fortuna, V195 Red Bluff, V23 (Graham?) intersection direct, climb &
maintain FL 150.
20:41 124.85 (ZSE ACV Approach)
UNID (boat?) calling UNID CG acft.: "Getting ready to conduct rescue
swimmer operations, request if able if you could generate a practice search
pattern just south of the air station for us..." remainder lost in static
20:48 157.175 FM (Marine 83A, primary CG Ops CGS Humboldt Bay)
Lastly, CG 1715 Rptg. in to ZOA @ FL 150
20:52 132.2 (ZOA Low UKI/RBF)

Also caught part of a comm on the AR8A route: "...7, we're gonna *garbled*
ride back here and do a quick seat swap." First time I bagged a comm on
the AR8 tracks, so I'll be listening intently for more.
20:21 240.35 (AR8 SB)
---
Just recorded a one-sided ATC comm with UNID acft.: ZSE talking to UNID
acft., noting that they should try to reach UNID ground station on their
Victor frequency, and from there they can get the correct Uniform
frequency... Freq. given was 129.85
02:30 124.85 (ZSE ACV Approach)
(That freq isn't in my list, although the acft. was OoR for me... I've
added it anyway, does anyone know whose Victor freq this is?)
