Once i got onto I-65 northbound the DIXIE Vipers started to light up the radio (BC-796D w/external magnetic mount antenna). I was between Atmore, Al and Montgomery and was able to hear most of the time all the way thru Montgomery. These guys would be F-16's, 100th FS/187th FW, Montgomery/AL ANG).
Callsigns used:
PYTHON 1-4 (A/A: 140.425)
VENOM 71-74 (unsure of their a/a)
Freqs used:
270.25---Atlanta Ctr @ Montgomery (clearance into the Pine Hill MOA)
260.9----PYTHON flight working
228.9----VENOM flight working
142.575--id'd as Victor-15
140.425--id's as Victor-13 (the PYTHON flight switched between the two)
143.7----PYTHON telling VENOM their plans
After it was over PYTHON 3 and 4 got clearance to JRB New Orleans (KNBG) and PYTHON 1 and 2 RTB to Montgomery (KMGM). VENOM 71-74 also RTB Montgomery.
Now, as i continue northbound i hear a familiar call. I am just north of Birmingham and hear "MUSIC 20 "flight" slow down now, turn right heading xxx" I look down and it's the usual 292.0 a/a. Three in a flight doing maneuvers. Later lead calls 322.9 (Ops) and reports 15 mins out. Here i am still a good 2 hours out! Yee-haw!!
