WASHINGTON (AP) - The North American Aerospace Defense Command is conducting an exercise involving a series of training flights in the Washington region.

The exercise, dubbed Falcon Virgo, runs from Wednesday into Thursday. It is designed to hone NORAD's intercept and identification operation and test the region's visual warning system.

Residents of the Washington region can expect to see and hear Air Force F-16s, Civil Air Patrol aircraft and Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopters during the late night and early morning hours.

The exercise will be pushed to the next day if there is inclement weather.
