Well, the following news article from today's paper explains why I
heard the VIPs going to Bangor yesterday. See below.

Maine wants Air National Guard to upgrade refueling tankers
BANGOR - Maine leaders are urging the director of the
Air National Guard to consider putting new refueling tankers,
and possibly an active duty unit, in Bangor.
Gov. John Baldacci and Maine's congressional delegation used
Lt. Gen. Craig McKinley's weekend visit to Bangor as an opportunity
to broach the ideas.
Bangor International Airport, home to the 101st Air Refueling Wing,
plays an important role in refueling military aircraft coming and going
from Europe and the Middle East. Last year, the wing began replacing
its 10 KC-135E tankers with the newer KC-135R model. But the air
frames date to the late 1950s and 1960s.
Maine leaders want the Air Force to step up the replacement of all
those aging tankers and possibly bring an active duty unit with 200
airmen to Bangor.
