Greetings everyone,
RESCUE 42 was heard being called by Winnipeg Centre ATC on 123.8 simulcast
with 134.325, without an answer, 0450 UTC Sept 26/07 (UTC day). The
controller then asked a Kelowna FLIGHTCRAFT (civilian cargo aircraft) to
relay to RESCUE 42 and ask them to call him on 123.8. There was still no
response from RESCUE 42. The FLIGHTCRAFT pilot offered to call RESCUE 42
on Guard (121.5) to see if he would answer. At this point, the controller
said not to bother, and then made some comment that he thought RESCUE 42
was on the right frequency.
I did not hear anything further regarding RESCUE 42. I'm guessing this is
a CC-130 aircraft on a rescue mission, but that's just a guess. I have not
heard on the news about any searches or rescues, so I do not know what
mission RESCUE 42 was on. I'm thinking he was operating over Saskatchewan
though.
Earlier in the evening, I did hear CANFORCE 3905 checking in with Winnipeg
Centre ATC, but I did not get type of aircraft, location, or destination,
just a check in with ATC. This may or may not be related to RESCUE 42.
Regards,
Rob
