[MilCom] New Scanner

As a very happy 2006 owner who happens to live within
spittin' distance (well, OK - maybe it's a mile away
so you gotta spit WITH the wind :-) ) of a major
cell tower (which looks to me like it may carry some
other services, too) I can testify that the 2006 has
had VERY little problems with getting hit with
intermods and other crud from it. The only one that I
can recall was actually down in the 108-136 MHz area,
and even then I wasn't 100% sure of the source - it
just sounded a lot like the sort of idle chatter one
might hear on a cellphone vs. something aviation
related.
That scanner was one of the things that Radio Shack
got right (choice of manufacturer, I suppose one
should say) with my only gripe being how hot the
internal power supply ran - I did what I think a lot
of other folks did, which was to get an external 12
volt supply - figuring that it was cheaper to replace
if THAT burned up than dealing with repairs to the
2006's internal supply....not to mention downtime
issues. Well, yeah, I suppose the lack of a tuning
knob/VFO is a little annoying but considering the
price vs. features I'll not complain too much about
that.
