Monitoring from approximately 1000 to 1530 hrs local, I was able to confirm
that the Conneticut Wing, Civil Air Patrol was conducting an exercise for
various Ground Search/Rescue & Urban Direction Finding Teams throughout the
state (including the Winstead & Bristol areas).
Frequencies that were active:
148.125 Repeater (NFM)
148.150 Repater (NFM)
At times it appeared that both frequencies were simucasting.
Mobile/portable units appeared to be called and or checked in on a 1/2 hour
basis.
Transmissions included this is an exercise.
UDF Teams appeared to be looking in many areas of the state for simulated
aircraft ELT beacons. The nationwide practice frequency for this is 121.775
mhz. What an ELT sounds like (including actual ones on 121.5 & 243.0 mhz
(as well as practices beacons) can be found at:

Callsigns Monitored:
CONNETICUT MISSION BASE
GROUND TEAM ONE
GROUND TEAM TWO
GROUND TEAM THREE
GROUND TEAM FOUR
GROUND TEAM FIVE
GROUND TEAM SIX
GROUND TEAM SEVEN
No CAPFLIGHT aircraft callsigns were monitored, and this was probably due to
weather conditions.
