I have traveled this route many times, unfortunatly
there is not much to listen to traveling hwy 99 even
with UHF capabilities. Most of the interesting things
are on the eastern side of the Sierra's.
This time of year you will want to include
Firefighting Aircraft freqs. which will be good on
your entire route.
