Nothing wrong or morbid about inquiring if any comms were caught, in my 
view.
In fact, I would say a quite natural reaction in a community of comm buffs.
We hear the last words of fatal crashes all the time when black boxes 
are recovered - And much
of the comms that emitted from the doomed aircraft on 9/11 are public.
I'm not so sure of your logic, wanting to treat these as some sort of 
sacred, hallowed objects that only the morbidly
curious would want to listen to.
