Indeed the military radios do usually include the ham bands and are
available in wartime. They should not be there normally but many people
have reported such.
One of my few contacts on 220 was back in the '60s when I worked a KC-135
using an ARC-27. Happened to hear him on 20 meters and asked for a radio
check since he was nearby. :)
