Two AZ ANG F-16's were scrambled from Davis-Monthan AFB against an unknown
aircraft flying over southern Arizona. The fighters were able to get close
enough to identify the Cessna-210. Due to inclement weather in the area,
the reaction was handed off to an ICE Blackhawk Helicopter for ID and escort
to Tucson International Airport. Upon landing at TIA, the aircraft was
quickly surrounded by ICE officials. The Cessna was subsequently taxied off
the runway. The disposition is unknown for the pilot of this aircraft.
To top it all off, since I work near the airport, and had my camera with me,
I was able to see and photograph the Blackhawk trailing the Cessna as it
landed at TIA. Very cool to hear and see this all come together.
