Interesting to note the various actual & practice search missions that CAP
has performed over the last month yet I don't recall seeing any loggings
posted to the group.
News releases on CAP activities, to include SAR missions can be found at:
http://www.cap.gov/ "CAP News Online" In addition, "Google News" can be
utilized to find applicable articles with such search terms as "Civil Air
Patrol Search", "Civil Air Patrol Plane Search", "Civil Air Patrol
Exercise", "Civil Air Patrol Search Exercise", etc...
"Monitoring Times" magazine's June 2007 edition columns 'Monitoring
Military Communications' & 'MT Help Desk" by Larry Van Horn, lists CAP's
potential frequencies (VHF & HF), and tactical callsigns that might be
utilized. See: http://www.grove-ent.com/MT.html
My understanding is that Civil Air Patrol is aways looking for quality
senior & cadet members to actively participate in its' three major
missions/objectives, to include emergency services. Radio communications
(mission radio operator) & ELT/EPRIB finding (Urban Radio Direction Finding
Team member) for emergency services may be of prime interest to some on the
list. Information on units near your home location can be found at:
http://cap.findlocation.com/ just input your zip code. Consider visiting a
unit (or two) to see if there's a "fit" to your committing volunteer time to
this organization.
