My milcom monitoring activities, has pretty much been self-restricted to my
home monitoring post, since I'm into this hobby to have fun, enjoyment, and
relaxation -- 'Unauthorized' "on scene" activities in today's security
charged (potential terrorists attacks) environment are not within my
personal "happy" hobby theme.
The hobby will unfortunately, be forced into change because of security
concerns that put the hobbyists in the limelight. Again I think the term
"on scene" is going to be replaced with the term "near scene", meaning an
accessible & publically authorized area (probably on a hill or mountain --
or could be in a water craft anchored near coastal bases) away from the
perimeter fencing/restricted area that allows viewing of the military aero
activity (with binoculars/telescopes and other view enhancing devices), as
well as radio monitoring of all the base support & aero related radio nets.
