[MilCom] Dover AFB Nextel Usage?

With the installation of the new 380 mhz Trunking Net at Dover is
Sprint/Nextel units still being used operationally?
An article in the AFCA "Intercom" (page 25)
http://public.afca.af.mil/Intercom/2000/00dec.pdf noted that back in 1999
the Commander's Net was switched to nextel units and also EVERY unit
commander & first sergeant had a nextel unit. Apparently all cell phones
were replaced with nextel units. The article doesn't indicate how many
units were being used, but the total cost was $340,000 a year. Apparently
the conversion to a new narrow band LMR system was going to cost about $10
million
I noted in Dover AFB Instruction 13-201, paragraph 3 (dated Feb 2004) that
the tower can be contacted either by Ramp, CE or NEXTEL nets for ground
vehicle movement on the airfield.
Seems like this would be a very good reference to have if you monitor in
that immediate area:
