Personally, would ride my bike by that site quite a bit during those long 
Alaskan summers.  A few moose (perhaps trained to perform security :) ;) ) 
use to hang out fairly close to that location.  If you go further north you 
will also find the remote HF antennas from Elemendorf Global.  Also there 
use to be a small dirt landing strip with small aircraft just to the north 
also.   Too bad I didn't have a milcom capable type scanner when I lived 
there.
