It's likely that MAGPIE was telling BIG FOOT that their ATC MODE-C (aka
MODE-3, aka "squawk") code was 4772 as part of a P&I ("PARROT and
INDIA", aka "MODES-N-CODES") check, as in "MODE THREE: FOUR SEVEN SEVEN
TWO" ... PARROT is a term used for MODE-C (get it?) and INDIA is what
they call the "MODE 4" or AIFF transponder, I believe because INDIA
would be the first letter of IFF, but that's just a guess.
The usual response to this kind of check would be one of "modes and
codes are sweet" or "mode three sweet, mode four sour; recycle
transponder" or some combination.
