Absolutely, common practice which may involve a number of frequencies; but they don't rebroadcast communications received on one frequency on another one.

I know that they do this often with Vancouver Centre. On quiet nights, it seems one controller is on duty for most of the sector. Plug in 125.95 and you'll hear aircraft being handed off to Seattle Centre, Anchorage Centre, and Edmonton Centre. It makes fun monitoring, but only ususally happens late at night. The controller appears to be working at least 4 different frequencies at times, all simulcasted into each other.
