Ken,
yes, some people were turned away. I managed to get in on both days with my
scanner. It was in my photovest while going through security. At times
during both days it was in plain site of security forces on the flight line.
On both days I observed at least another dozens with radios.
I did come back minus one rubber duckie antenna, it's somewhere on the
ramp...

Apparently numerous reports are being received on the yahoo Scan-Mass-East
group, that radio monitoring hobbyists with scanners are being refused entry
to the base flight line area & have to return the equipment to their
vehicles.
Should be interesting if they thought the scanner antennas were "blunt
objects" and thus banned them from the show. See:
