LOL :) :)

Yep, I thought a 747-400 was having some serious engine
problems!. I was inside the house, and we are right under
the approach path for 18R, as I believe you are too, as you
are just up the road from us.

Anyway, looked out the window in time to see the
"whale tail" of the old C-5. I suppose it "could" have
been a C-17, as I was looking at the rear end of it,
but certainly looked like a C-5 to me.

The only other military related traffic I have seen go into DFW
in the 9 years I've been up here on the north side has been a
C-130, which I saw about a month ago (but never got a callsign),
and a Volga Dnepr AN-124 that came in one time. That one really
freaked me out. And you thought the C-5 was loud.... :-) Pretty
crazy looking out the window and seeing a huge jet with Russian
letters on the side come floating over at 1,500 feet!.

Funny thing is, growing up in Atlanta, and close to Dobbins AFB
and Lockheed, that was where they rolled out and tested all the
C-5's, so it was not uncommon at all to see a couple of C-5's
in formation flying around the city (quite a sight to see at low level).
The old C-141 Starlifters were popular in that day too.
