Greetings everyone,

Some activity of interest today:

NIGHTMARE 74 - CF-18 from 409 Sqn, Cold Lake. NIGHTMARE 74 was parked at
the Regina Airport overnight Friday night. Today, about 1815 UTC,
NIGHTMARE 74 departed runway 13, then requested and received permission
for a low pass over runway 31. The Regina Tower controller (118.6)
actually held off a couple of aircraft to allow the CF-18 to make his
pass. All communications were on VHF 118.6. NIGHTMARE 74 did the pass over
the field, then was cleared for an unrestricted climb to FL160.

Fortunately NIGHTMARE 74 did the pass over runway 31, allowing him to fly
near the house on his departure. By the time he was visible from the house
here, NIGHTMARE 74 was in a vertical afterburner climb.

NIGHTMARE 74 then handed off to Winnipeg Centre on 123.8, and given
further clearance at FL160 to destination. Unfortunately I did not hear
his destination, but I don't think he was heading to Cold Lake. (I
couldn't hear the ATC controller over the voice of my daughter nearby who
was chatting about seeing the CF-18.) NIGHTMARE 74 was heading northwest.

Next, around 1920 UTC, COBRA VIPERS came in for an approach, overhead
break, and a full stop landing in Regina, runway 13. COBRA VIPERS were a
flight of 2 CT-155 Harvard trainers from the NATO Flight Training Centre,
CFB Moose Jaw.

Next, around 2014 UTC, another single military aircraft flew into Regina.
Despite being spoken numerous times by both the tower and the pilot, I
could not catch the callsign. It was ____ 46. The callsign could have been
COBRA 46, but I'm not certain. (Time to wash the wax out of the ears I
guess). It almost sounded like Comorant 46, but that would make it a
helicopter and it was definitely not a helicopter.

Anway, _____ 46 did a right break on runway 13, a touch and go, and then a
full stop on runway 13. I was not able to identify the type of aircraft.
I'll see if I can head down to the airport later today and see what, if
anything, is parked on the ramps there.

Overall, strangely active for a Saturday. The aircraft from Moose Jaw are
always in here in Regina practicing approaches during the day every
weekday, but almost never on the weekend. So I don't know what the
occasion or reason for the activity today is, but I'm not complaining.
