Would be interested in hearing from other hobbyists that are using the 996T
for monitoring milcom on what techniques they are utilizing with this radio.

What I'm trying to do is figure out the optimum # of frequencies that can be
effectively monitored. At this point I'm trying to monitor with the
following set up (major category/sub category (Function X) (I've excluded
general scannerland categories, which are normally locked out during milcom
monitoring):

*Aero Common (VHF Civilian) Button #2
2-1 Aero General (nationwide, unicom, multicom, flight test, special VHF,
FSS, regional phone patch)
2-2 Civil Air Patrol (all old & new nfm/p25 plus common aero related)
2-3 Enroute VHF (all VHF Aviation Spectrum Resources freqs) (will lock this
out normally)

*Military Local Button #5
5-1 Westover JARB Aero freqs (VHF/UHF atc, command & control, tactical, base
ops, metro, etc)
5-2 Westover JARB LMR nets
5-3 Barnes ANGB Aero freqs (VHF/UHF ATC, command/control, tactical, base
ops, FBO's)
5-4 Barnes ANGB LMR nets
5-5 Bradley ANGS Aero freqw (VHF/UHF ATC, command/control, tactical, base
ops, FBO's)
5-6 Bradley ANGS LMR nets
5-7 Boston ARTCC UHF ATC (all freqs)
5-8 Boston ARTCC VHF ATC (all freqs)
5-9 Regional Units (New England/NY/NJ) Aero Command & Control, Weather, Base
Ops, air refueling tracks)

*Milair UHF Command/Control Potential freqs USAF, USN, USA (button 6) (289
frequencies)

At home I don't use the close call capture activity, while mobile I do use
it in the DND mode. Additionally, I do occassional place the scanner in the
search mode 138-144, 148-150.8, 380-400 mhz, BUT not in the UHF Aero
range.....

I might add that one of the biggest shortfalls of this scanner is the
capability to easily go to a particular frequency.

Overall I haven't been happy with the effectivness of this current setup, So
I would be interested in hearing either privately or publically from others
who use this equipment.

Ken
