What a most excellent report! I am posting from the Pt. Mugu area now.

I can confirm that F-22 is using:
376.025 Raptor discrete
...at this show as well. I have also heard a similar story regarding state of F-22 demo. Even though it is 'demo-lite' compared to what they are going to be doing next year, it is still very impressive.

Pictures from the show are here:

Sorry to hear about Bert. At El Centro, Bert flew on Friday practice, but immediately had a main gear problem and evidently was scrubbed the next day.

[NOTES]
This was the last Heritage Flight for QF-4 #73-1171. It is destined for
target drone duty because of high airframe hours.

The normal Fat Albert was not at the show. Instead, a KC-130T from
VMGR-452 flew the Friday practice. It did not fly on Saturday.

The Black Daggers performed a HALO combat insertion demo. Instead of
their normal black uniforms they were wearing ACUs. They were also
outfitted with oxygen masks and drop bags. They still used their
black and red parachutes. They were using the common discrete.

The F-22 performed a mini-demo of 6 passes. From what I have read on
some air show boards, this mini-demo will be the norm this year while
the team perfects the full routine.

Patty Wagstaff has a new paint job this year (black on silver).

There was a flight that arrived Friday evening using the callsign
JESTER but I was not able to get a visual on them.

Photos are at http://www.showlinephoto.com/2007/07pam/gallery1.html

The next airshow for me is 27-30 Sep at the Rickenbacker ANGB in
Columbus OH. The Gathering of Mustangs and Legends is shaping up to
be one of the top airshows in the US this year. 100+ P-51 Mustangs
will be in attendance and there will be a mass flight of 51 Mustangs
on Sunday. WWII aces like Chuck Yeager and Bob Hoover will be there
along with several others. And that is just the tip of the iceberg,
check out the shows website at http://www.gml2007.com.

Finally, while in the Panama City area I was picking up a 380MHz P25
system. The comms I was hearing sounded exactly like the comms at Fort
Benning. There were several net check-ins, a unit crossing the LDA
(Linear Danger Area), and references made to a DZSO, LZ, and the
Eglin Police. Based on all of this I suspect this system is being
used by the 6th Ranger Training Battalion at Camp Rudder near Eglin
AFB. Here are some specifics about the system as reported by my 396T:

SysID: 014Ch-0103
WACN: BEE00
Frequencies (* denotes control channel):
385.0625* 386.425* 388.4375 388.9375 389.4375
Talkgroups:
40148 40154 40240 40700 40702 40703 40755

There is an air show at Eglin next month. Hopefully someone can attend
and gather some more info.
