The lady has/had mental problems (claustrophobic & panic attacks).

Her major attack was urinating on the aircraft corridor floor.  Plan "B" was 
implemented in that the Federal Air Marshals
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Air_Marshal took charge.  I'd assume 
that even if there wasn't any air marshal's on the plane some of the 
passengers would take appropriate action if they felt that she was going to 
try to open the external door, etc.

Frankly very long flights confined in an aircraft can be very stressful.  I 
can still remember my flight to & return from a 15 month tour of duty in the 
Middle East on a commercial airlines many years ago.  It was A VERY LONG 
FLIGHT!!!  I like the idea that the military was experimenting with awhile 
back that would give the troops a drug that would allow them to get the 
necessary rest enroute and so that they would not be tired when they landed 
to perform their mission.
