10/15

1500z 141.8 / 46.75 / 46.85 Willow Grove A10's x 4 a/a; flew overhead
the Sellersville hamfest with comms about a flyby, possibly at Willow Grove
JRB, and in contact with the tower on 340.2 about when the music is
starting. I just recently bought a FT-60R dual band VHF/UHF Yaesu handheld
with 108 - 520MHz & 700 - 999.995 RX. I punched in the UHF tower and the
FT-60R received just as good as the RS P97. Also, the 141.8 freq came in
loud & clear. I've also received the local Reading, PA airport on 257.9 with
the same signal strength as my AR8000's on the RS discones. This is a great
handheld for not only TX in the ham V/U bands; but receives very well
throughout the extended ranges also. I bought mine from Ham Radio Outlet as
they have a $10 discount on the radio. Alot of radio for the 189.95 regular
price. The audio is especially crisp with the small handheld speaker mic.

Brandywine airport Chester County, PA; Rotorfest airshow freqs:

123.075 Airboss; at least until someone had a stuck mic for some time.
135.650 Groundboss; then Airboss as Dave Shultz, who was running the
airshow, didn't want to take a chance on having a stuck mic causing rfi on
123.075 wisely moved to this freq for the rest of the show.
124.350 Philly approach/dep; used by departing a/c.
319.150 Unid a/c calling Philly app/dep about operations in the area.

The CH47, Chinook 110, from Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA did an outstanding
performance, as did their co-hort in the UH60, Mystic 34. Another UH 60,
Guard 663 performed - missed his home base, as well as a CH53, Stallion 40
from Norfolk, VA. I got to the show late, about halfway through, but was
still worth the $10 to see the end.

The Army Black Daggers jumped, and their was mention of using 136.5; but
they used 135.65, the Airboss/Groundboss freq.

Just a side note; a guy at the Sellersville hamfest hit a real bargain;
right as the hamfest opened, he saw a guy unloading a PRC 77 with a vehicle
mount in very good condition. He asked the seller what he wanted for the
radio and the guy says, ah $75 for the whole works!!! Some guys have all the
luck!!!

Rich - Reading, PA
