Check out the Nov-December 2006 edition of Civil Air Patrol's "Volunteer"
magazine
http://www.cap.gov/documents/Volunteer_NovDec_06_Final_75dpi.pdf

As CAP celebrates it's 65 anniversary, there's some great individual
(personal) articles about CAP beginning.....

What's also interesting is a list of over 300 members who for 50 years have
volunteered their time to Civil Air Patrol activities. A fine salute to
those folks!!!!

Remember that CAP is always looking for "quality" volunteers. You can find
the nearest unit to you by check out the data base at:
http://cap.findlocation.com/

BTW locally 148.15 (ctcss 100.0 & no ctccs) simplex appears to be active at
times. I haven't heard the local repeater for a long time, so it may be out
of service. Not sure which federal comm site the new analog/digital
repeater will be placed in service on in the Springfield MA area.. Not many
reports in the New England states about CAP active repeaters frequencies as
well as net schedules
