Just got my June 2006 edition.. Some interesting milcom related
columns/information:

*"Special Project: A Simple Yai For the 300 mhz Band" (Kent Britain) -- Nice
conscise article making it very easy to build this antenna, it's centered on
325 mhz but is broad band from 300 to 400 mhz.

*Monthly Column: "Military Radio Monitoring on VHF,UHF, HF, & Satellites"
(Tom Swisher)
Swisher's column concentrates this month on "The Civil Air Patrol: History
& Frequencies" Table 1 Civil Air Patrol Nationwide frequencies lists approx
50 HF, VHF Low Band, VHF Highband, VHF Aero, & UHF freqs. Some surprises
include some frequencies in the 30-50 mhz band as well as some frequencies
in the 160.XXXX band. Additionally surprises are some federal 400 mhz
frequencies. However, he did overlook the intersquad radios (380-400 mhz)
& also that CAP does use FRS radios. Additionally, perhaps he didn't know
this, but CAP is getting some specific Digital P25 freqs assigned to use in
the 138-150.8 mhz government band (or was in the UHF band???). Rumor has it
that it will be at least 5 additional frequencies. The various state wings
should be getting some of the new P25 radio comms gear in the near future.
BTW the term "Classified CAP Frequencies", in the column probably should
read -- CAP frequencies & their designated usage are "For Official Use
Only" and will not be disclosed to the public... Frankly with all the
"close capture"/"signal stalking" scanners available, it really won't take
long to find ANY frequency in use!

*Monthly Column: "Plane Sense (Bill Hoefer) concentrates this month on
Orlando International Airport, to include the UHF aero freqs as well as som
Army National Guard operations.

*Unfortunately, no replacement has been found yet for the "HF Utilities"
monthly column.
