Another zoo today. Afternoon was like a war zone with bombers everywhere.
124.15: CONGO-64, (UV-18, AF Academy), with Academy Tower. Dropping jumpers
all day.
372.20: SMOKY-77, (C-21A, Peterson), takeoff Colorado Springs.
275.80: REDEYE-11, flight of 2, (F-16, Buckley), cleared Cheyenne MOA.
275.80: STUD-21, flight of 2, (F-16, Buckley), cleared Cheyenne MOA. Will be
MARSA with REDEYE flight.
225.40: BONE-53, (B-1B, Ellsworth), with Denver Center, FL 260. Wants to
change flight route to: Denver, Hugo VORTAC and Hill City.
379.95: BONE-61, flight of 2, (B-1B, Ellsworth), with Denver Center, Block
250-260.
Switching 387.15 and descending to the Block 190-200.
121.00: TONTO-11, (T-1A, Randolph), land; then on to Randolph.
251.25: ??TACO??-11, flight of 2, (?F-16, NM-ANG?), working with SMASHER
(FAC) in Ariburst Range. Using mostly suffixes, so not catching callsigns.
349.20: HOIST-95, (KC-10A, McGuire), request WX Nellis for 1730Z.
275.80: WARPIG-1, (A-10A, MD-ANG), cleared to Martin State.
275.80: REDEYE-31, flight of 2, (F-16, Buckley), cleared down to Pueblo for
a couple of approaches; then over to Veta/Chama MOA and AR-643.
275.80: redeye-33, flight of 2, (F-16, Buckley), same clearance as 31.
379.95: REDEYE-31 flight, looking for UTAH, (KC-135, UT-ANG), for an AR in
AR-643. May not happen due to UTAH having some sort of emergency.
387.15: THUMPER, (AWAC, Tinker), looking for info on REDEYE, flight of 4
F-16's and UTAH, flight of 1 KC-135. Denver Center says he doesn't know anything
about them, but THUMPER says he has them on radar over Pueblo. ((Some
exceptionally dense controllers on duty at Center today.))
296.70: THUMPER working with REDEYE flights in Veta/Chama. Bunches of
bombers over Colorado at about the same time, but unknown if THUMPER is verctoring
the REDEYEs on to them. Also did not hear the AR, so UTAH may have cancelled.
379.95: BONE-51, flight of 2, (B-1B, Ellsworth), with Denver Center, Block
250.260.
Switch 387.15 and descend to Block 190-200. ((THUMPER has the REDEYEs in
Block
15,000-20,000.))
306.90: HAWG-71, (F-16, AR-ANG), with Denver Center. Requesting direct Hill.
263.00: WARHOG-1, (?A-10?), with Denver Center, FL 320. ((Not the same as
WARPIG above))
372.20: SMOKY-37, (C-21A, Peterson), land Colorado Springs.
121.00: REACH 4543, (C-130, Little Rock), land.
387.15: GATOR-86, (T-43A, Randolph), doing "celnav" over SE Colorado.
121.00: NASA-864, (T-38N, Dryden), cleared to Edwards.
372.20: REACH 9058, (C-17A, McChord), land Colorado Springs.
275.80: REDEYE-61, flight of 3, (F-16, Buckley), cleared Cheyene MOA.
((Originally the #3 aircraft was sked to be part of SOCK-71 flight, but his wingman
was having a major ground emergency, so he went with the REDEYEs. Sounded like
his wingman either had a hydrazene leak or caught fire.))
354.15: DOOM-94, flight of ?2?, (B-52, Barksdale), with Denver Center, FL
280. Switch 306.90.
379.95: DOOM-95, flight of ?2?, (B-52, Barksdale), with Denver Center, FL
240.
Switch 371.85, climb to 250; then back to 379.95. Looking for vectors to
AR-116W.
---.--: CHILL-32 and TUFF-72, (B-52's from Minot and Barksdale
respectively), also noted in the mix, but only one call heard; and with all the other
activity I missed the freqs.
124.15: SPECK-02, (T-1A, Vance), sounds like he is doing a fly-by at the
Academy.
251.25: ?TACOs?, working at Airburst Range, but again no callsigns that I
could get. ((Along with all this going on, Denver desides to simulcast their VHF
traffic on UHF freqs, so that really mucks up the stew))
306.90: JEDI-01, (Unk), with Denver Center, FL 370. Switch ?323.25?
296.70: HAWG-71, (F-16, AR-ANG), with Denver Center, FL 410. Denver keeps
trying to send him to 236.00 which doesn't exist. Is supposed to be 263.00,
which HAWG figures out by himself; but Denver still keeps insisting on 236.00. By
the time they finally get everything straight, HAWG is in Kansas and the
296.70 controller tells him to switch to Kansas City Center on 257.65. HAWG
requesting direct Fort Smith. Sounds real relieved to be away from the Denver Center
people. ((Are any villages out there missing their idiots??))
239.025: BOGEY-55, (?F-5, VFC-13, Fallon?), land Colorado Springs.
306.90: FIRST-41, (?F-22?, Langley), with Denver Center, FL 430.
372.20: JOSA-633, (C-21A, Peterson), land Colorado Springs.
372.20: JOSA-538, (C-21A, Peterson), land Colorado Springs.
