[MilCom] Callsign Help

Yesterday afternoon I heard an unusual callsign on 128.1, KZTL Augusta, ERIC 26, requesting direct
to Pope AFB. When it was time to hand off to the next freq, ERIC 26 said they were not UHF
capable. Would this a trainer of some sorts? Or maybe a civy contractor?
