[MilCom] Military Aero "Close Call Capture Technology" Results?

There's some Uniden ("close call capture") & Radio Shack ("signal stalker") 
models that allow this function.  So far I haven't had any success with this 
on hearing/finding any milair freqs (aircraft or even tower).  When we tried 
it (RS Pro 97/RS Pro 83) at KBAF we were within 500 feet of the tower but 
couldn't get it to lock onto the ATIS or the tower/ground control when we 
knew by use of another scanner that transmissions were active...   Was 
wondering what results others have had with this technology, as it relates 
to aero type frequencies (118-138, 225-400 mhz).  From a military ground 
support radio (P25/NFM) nets/systems prospective I get more than a 1/4 mile 
lock on with the Pro 83/Pro 97).
