PS: Thanks to all who responded about the SHOGUN
callsign. As to the assumption of aircraft being
tactical compared to a C designation using UHF. I
agree that just because the aircraft is on UHF doesn't
gaurantee it's a tac a/c. On the East Coast i'm sure C
aircraft might use UHF for ATC due to overcrowding but
rest assured that is not the case in these parts.
ATC freqs are not overcrowded in this area and the
only time i've heard an aircraft designated as a C use
UHF for ATC was on a backup radio. Case in point.
Look how much more is logged by DC area listeners than
i do. Way much more. I guess i should have stated as
well that this aircraft had the distinguished F-18
mask sound. Again thanks for all the possible
answers. It doesn't make much difference but i do
like to know what type i was hearing.
